Conservation Education

Building a Generation of Changemakers

From curiosity to understanding. From understanding to action.

Earth FX International Conservation Education connects young people with wildlife, ecosystems, communities and the choices shaping our planet’s future.

Beginning in Zambia and designed to grow internationally, our education framework develops with the child — nurturing curiosity in the early years, building investigation and critical thinking as students grow, and empowering older students to explore real conservation challenges and create meaningful solutions.

Conservation education should do more than teach children about the world.

It should help them understand that people, wildlife and the environment are connected — and that they have a place in shaping what happens next.

Through discovery, investigation, collaboration and action, students progress from simply learning about conservation to recognising that their ideas, choices and actions matter.

Education today. Conservation tomorrow.

ONE FRAMEWORK. THREE LEARNING JOURNEYS.

From Curiosity to Conservation Action

Children protect what they learn to understand, value and care about.

Earth FX Conservation Education grows with the child — from discovering the natural world, to investigating how it works, to understanding complex conservation challenges and designing solutions for the future.

DISCOVER → INVESTIGATE → UNDERSTAND → ACT → LEAD

Junior Conservation Explorers

GRADES 1–3
Discover • Wonder • Care • Do

Young learners begin by discovering the natural world around them.

Through wildlife, habitats, senses, simple ecosystems and hands-on activities, children are encouraged to notice, wonder, ask questions and develop care for living things.

The journey begins with curiosity.

Conservation Investigators

GRADES 4–6
Think • Investigate • Understand • Act

Students begin looking deeper.

They investigate ecosystems, wildlife, adaptation, biodiversity and the connections between people and nature.

Rather than simply being given answers, students are encouraged to question, investigate evidence, recognise connections and consider possible solutions.

Curiosity becomes understanding.

Conservation Changemakers

GRADES 7–9
Understand • Question • Collaborate • Design • Lead

Older students explore conservation as part of a much bigger system.

Wildlife, communities, tourism, biodiversity and a changing climate introduce students to real decisions, different perspectives and the challenge of creating sustainable solutions.

Students are encouraged not only to understand change — but to help design it.

Understanding becomes action.

MORE THAN A WORKBOOK

Learning is only the beginning.

LEARN → INVESTIGATE → CHOOSE → PLAN → ACT → SHARE → REFLECT

Earth FX Conservation Education is designed to move learning beyond the page. Students don’t simply read about conservation — they observe, question, investigate, collaborate, design solutions and discover ways to take meaningful action.

Student workbooks are supported by teacher guides, hands-on activities, outdoor learning, community connections and opportunities for students to turn what they have learned into something real.

The workbook may finish. The conservation journey doesn’t have to.

DESIGNED FOR REAL CLASSROOMS

Meaningful conservation education should not depend on expensive equipment, sophisticated technology or access to the internet.

Earth FX Conservation Education is designed to be flexible, inclusive and adaptable across different schools, communities and levels of available resources.

Teachers are encouraged to protect the learning goal while adapting the way it is delivered. Outdoor observation can replace online research. Discussion can replace written work. Natural and recycled materials can become learning tools. Local wildlife, plants, landscapes and community knowledge can bring conservation directly into the classroom.

A tree, a bird, a patch of soil, a conversation with an elder or a question from a child can become the beginning of a lesson.

Start with what you have.

Teach from where you are.

Include every learner.

From the observer and quiet thinker to the questioner, artist, researcher, storyteller, problem-solver and leader — every child has something to contribute.

BEGINNING IN ZAMBIA. BUILT TO GROW.

Earth FX International’s conservation education journey is being brought to life in Zambia, where students are learning about the extraordinary wildlife, ecosystems, communities and conservation challenges that form part of their own country and future.

Through locally relevant learning, students explore much more than wildlife protection. They discover how people, wildlife and the environment are connected — and how healthy ecosystems can support biodiversity, communities, livelihoods and future generations.

From the youngest Junior Conservation Explorers to our Conservation Investigators and Conservation Changemakers, the program encourages students to first understand their own home, their own wildlife and their own place within it.

The Earth FX International Conservation Education Framework has been designed to grow beyond borders.

As the program expands internationally, its core philosophy and learning progression will remain consistent, while wildlife, ecosystems, conservation challenges, cultural context and curriculum connections are adapted for each country.

A child in Zambia may investigate elephants, habitat connectivity or human–wildlife coexistence. A child in Australia may explore koalas, reef ecosystems or habitat fragmentation. Elsewhere, students will investigate the wildlife and environmental challenges relevant to the places they call home.

Children learn about their own world first — and then discover how their world connects with everyone else’s.

Different ecosystems. Different challenges. One shared future.

Our long-term vision is to connect classrooms, conservation stories and student action across countries — helping young people recognise that while conservation challenges may look different around the world, the future of people, wildlife and the planet is shared.

EVERY CHILD CAN CONTRIBUTE

Conservation needs more than scientists, rangers and researchers. It needs people who notice, question, imagine, communicate, create, collaborate and care.

Every child brings different strengths to conservation learning. Some will confidently lead a discussion. Others will quietly notice something everyone else has missed. Some will communicate through words, while others will express their understanding through art, investigation, storytelling, problem-solving or action.

There is no single way to become a changemaker.

THE OBSERVER • THE QUESTIONER • THE ARTIST

THE RESEARCHER • THE STORYTELLER

THE ORGANISER • THE PROBLEM-SOLVER

THE QUIET THINKER • THE LEADER

Conservation needs them all.

Earth FX Conservation Education creates opportunities for students to discover where their own strengths can contribute.

By recognising different ways of thinking, learning and participating, we help young people understand that their voice has value — whether they are investigating a problem, listening to another perspective, developing an idea, helping someone else participate or leading others towards action.

Every child does not need to become a conservationist. Every child should have the opportunity to become conservation-minded.

FROM ONE CLASS TO A GENERATION OF CHANGE

Conservation education becomes most powerful when learning leads to action.

Across the Earth FX program, students are encouraged to take what they have discovered beyond the workbook — into their classroom, school, family and community.

One class might create wildlife habitat. Another might investigate water use, reduce waste, interview community elders, monitor biodiversity, develop a conservation campaign or design a solution to a local environmental challenge.

The action does not need to be large. It needs to be meaningful, achievable and theirs.

LEARN → INVESTIGATE → CHOOSE → PLAN → ACT → SHARE → REFLECT

Learning becomes understanding.
Understanding becomes action.
Action can inspire others.

When students share what they have done, conservation learning can travel beyond one classroom.

Families become involved. Other students become curious. Teachers share ideas. Communities participate. One school’s project can inspire another school’s action.

Over time, these individual actions can become something much bigger.

One class cannot solve every conservation challenge.

But one class can change one thing.

And when another class changes one thing…
and another school changes one thing…
and another community joins them…

small actions become a generation of change.

OUR GROWING IMPACT

As Earth FX Conservation Education grows, we want to measure more than how many workbooks are distributed.

We want to understand what students discovered, what teachers observed, what actions were created and what changed because young people became involved.

Through teacher feedback, student voice, classroom projects and conservation actions, Earth FX will build a growing picture of the difference conservation education can make.

Because impact is not only measured by how many children participate — but by what happens because they did.

BE PART OF THE CHANGE

Whether you are a school, teacher, conservation organisation, community, funding partner or supporter, there is a place for you in the Earth FX education journey.

Together, we can help more young people understand the world they are inheriting — and discover that they have the knowledge, ideas and ability to help shape what happens next.

EDUCATION TODAY. CONSERVATION TOMORROW.

One child. One class. One action at a time.
